Why should I pay you $15 to $25 for the Card?

Good question. The card itself is only worth about 50 cents to $3--depending on whether it's one of our stock designs or has a picture of your group on it. However, a $100 bill is printed on the same paper as a $1 bill, yet one is worth 100 times more than the other. It's the same with the PENNIES TO DOLLARS card. The piece of printed cardboard is worth $105 to $280 when fully rubbed off. I'd pay $15 for $105 or $25 for $280 any day of the week. Wouldn't you? (Of course with our 15% free cards, you get almost all your investment back!)

You see, it's the system that raises the money for you that is important. We make our living helping groups like yours make money, and we have overhead expenses like any business. Keep in mind, we only sell you, on average, one card per participant, not multiple items like selling candy bars or taking orders from a catalog.

Remember, with candy, products or magazines you only make 40-50% profit and have to take orders, handle delivery, and mess with returns and mistakes. With PENNIES TO DOLLARS you eliminate these problems and can make pretty nearly 100% profit!

How Much Can We Earn?

I wish I could tell you exactly, but it really depends on your group. Look at it this way. If you only averaged $30 profit per card you would be making 50% profit without the hassle of products or delivery. Anything above that is gravy! The top end potential is enormous. If 100 members each "Rub Out" one standard card, you would raise $9000!

Will all our folks "Rub Out" an entire card?

That depends on their motivation. If your organization is raising funds so individual members can offset their personal cost of a trip, then the trip is reason enough to complete a card. But if you are working towards a less tangible goal, it is worth your while to designate part of the receipts for promotion. Without a tangible goal or promotional program the typical group attains 40% completion, on average. Hey... that's $36 clear profit per member... equal to or better than what you would make if they sold a case of candy each, but without handling any candy! Why not put 20% of your collections into promotion and raise your completion rate to 80%. That brings your profits up to about $52 per member. Worth it?

Yes, promotion is the key! Remember... we are not dealing with product mark-up and have no margin for promotion on our end, as we have given you all the dollars on your end to use at your discretion. We suggest rewarding those members who complete an entire card. Here are four excellent promotional ideas from which to choose:

1. CASH. Let the members of your group keep the amounts "rounded up" and turn in only a certain amount if the card is completed, such as letting them keep $15 or $20 if the card is completely scratched off. Then, if a member turns in a partially completed card, let another member complete it and make another $15 to $20. You decide on how much, based on your knowledge of your group. This way you stand to clear $52 or more per member.

2. PRIZE PROGRAM.
A prize brochure is given out to members showing prizes for completing various donation levels.
Big things like speakerphones, Cordless phones, LCD color TV's, CD players and the like; little things like yo-yos, puzzles, stuffed animals and magic tricks.  Your investment is approximately 15% of the amount turned in, BUT... when you invest in promotion, you get much higher completion and an even higher profit!  Would you invest $21.75 to raise $145? How about investing $28.50 to raise $190?

Most of our groups use plan #1, cash, which we have had for several years.  Some have pro-rated the cash on completing partially completed cards.   Others have made it an all-or nothing prize and have had better success.

Your donors' reward is the good feeling they get for helping, but even more, they see their names written down on the card.  This puts them on the "donor list" just like those prestigious donor lists published by college alumni associations!  You can even take these names and use them to put together a "thank you" list to publish in the local newspaper.
